Energy healing often works at levels beyond the physical areas inaccessible to more traditional forms of medicine. I have become convinced that combining energy medicine with traditional medicine is often the best complement for health. The energy system of the body is different from the physical. The body is the container for the energy. Illness and discord happen when we are out of step with our own vibration. By bringing ourselves back to perfect balance and harmony, we become in tune and in better health. Reiki is a tool to help find that balance that is essential for health. As a Reiki Master, I do not on my own accord “Heal” my clients; I merely hold the space for my clients to heal themselves. Reiki reaches all levels of existence and can help to maintain mental, physical and emotional balance. As a therapist, I am only a channel for this energy, for it is not my own, but rather a universal one. I receive the healing effects of this energy too. When I provide my client with a Reiki healing session, my desire is that we be in a quiet peaceful environment so my client can rest and fully absorb and feel Reiki’s wonderful healing energy. I will either lightly touch or hold my hands over my client’s fully clothed body where I am intuitively drawn. Prior to our appointment, I will discuss with my client what particular areas in their lives need assistance; whether this is physically or emotionally. Reiki energy has an intelligence of its own and will go where it is needed. I trust in this innate intelligence and am thankful in advance for the healing that occurs. I believe in Spirit and I believe that we all have angels and guides. I ask for the assistance of not only my guides and angels but my clients also, and for all the Reiki Masters and Healers, and Powerful Medicine People who have gone before. Reiki is a form of what today we more popularly call “Energy Medicine”. Energy Medicine is neither mystical nor mythical. Energy healing has been around for a long time. I was giving my father a Reiki treatment some time ago and when I was finished, he popped up from the massage table and exclaimed “I remember this; I remember this from when I was a little boy”. My father told me the story of how when he was a young boy living outside the small town of Selby, South Dakota, his mother took him regularly to a woman who would give him healings. I suspect it was very similar to Reiki and to him it felt the same. She performed what is commonly called “hands-on healing”. This woman was a healer in her community as many have been through-out time.
