After the sudden and unexpected death of my closest friend, my system underwent a fundamental disorganization. One symptom of that change was my back going "out." I’ve been using alternative medicine for about fifteen years. I find that my health is better if I use energy medicine like Reiki, Homeopathy, and Acupuncture first and then, if needed, give traditional medicine a try. I’ve been receiving Reiki treatments from Brenda for about six months. Brenda’s treatments are amazing. During the treatment I experience the feeling of energy moving through my body as she works, which is usually quite pleasant. She is very intuitive and channels Reiki energy in a gentle but comprehensive way. In other words, instead of listening to a flute, I hear a symphony. It’s a very complete healing. My emotions, my mind, my physical body, and my soul are all engaged in the treatment. She has grounded my body, released blocked energy, and filled my being with Reiki light. I feel my health is improving each time I see her. I only wish I could afford to go more often.

I wish I had recorded it at the time. The details are vague now. I only know the treatment worked. One image I remember is of butterflies flying out of my mouth somehow signifying release and spirituality. I call this image to mind every so often. At one point Brenda said she could feel tremendous love shared in my family. We both had tears streaming down our faces. Brenda seemed to be in touch with what I was experiencing. I can’t seem to recall words exact enough to describe what took place. It was kind of like magic. I accepted it as a healing/a gift and went on with my life. I may not have appreciated the profoundness of the experience or the potential of Reiki.

When I was first given Reiki I was very skeptical as to its healing abilities...but I can honestly say that since having received many Reiki treatments from Brenda it has accelerated healing for me on many levels. When I first felt what we call Reiki was when I was having a lot of problems with my neck and back, and a friend of mine just would put his hands around me and hold me in different places, his hands would work miracles it was then that I wanted to do something in healing with my hands. When I met up with Brenda years later, I realized what I wanted to do, and having a bit of weakness in my wrists felt that Reiki was right up my alley. I remember the very first time Brenda gave me Reiki. I was lying on her table and she told me that she spoke in tongues or other languages which felt odd at first but then I let my mind go and it was very soothing. I remember the pull on my heart and the opening up of my soul which when she passed over certain areas made me cry immediately but then I could feel Brenda knowing this was causing me distress and she moved to another spot and it soothed my pain. I remember seeing and feeling movement in parts of me that needed to move, I felt a rush of heat and flames come to my neck at one point, it was a realization of something in my past, I knew it had to do with my mother. I was moved so much that day, and leaving the session, I felt things change and a knowing that I had not had before. My life would take a different turn after that day and I would pursue a more direct route to healing, which is Reiki. I have since then worked in many different places, and now taking a class here in England for Swedish massage, I hope to incorporate them into my healing when I am back in the states.
